Sotomayor II<\/strong>\u00a0is an artist, curator, and educator with a dual PhD in Art Education and Women\u2019s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Penn State.\u00a0\u00a0Her teaching focuses on Gloria Anzald\u00faa\u2019s theory of conocimiento and autohistoria-teor\u00eda, a feminist writing practice of theorizing one\u2019s experiences as transformative acts to guide her teaching methodology and create curriculum for empowerment and transformation to curate educational spaces that decolonize white patriarchal hegemonic academic canons. She has curated numerous art exhibitions including: \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.les-femmes-folles-feminist-connect.com\"><em>Les Femmes Folles Presents:\u00a0Feminists Connect<\/em><\/a><em> (<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.les-femmes-folles-feminist-connect.com\">2021 &amp; 2022<\/a>);\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5a8eeb47d7bdce7c8bda8d01\/t\/60ce2d41e0529c4c6695f7ff\/1624124737271\/web_Lets-Pretend_brochure_final_readers-copy.pdf\"><em>Let\u2019s Pretend<\/em><\/a>\u00a0with Edinboro University (2021);\u00a0<em>Hilos Rojos<\/em>, a solo art exhibition in Havana, Cuba (2017); and\u00a0<em>Borrandofronteras\/Erasingborders<\/em>\u00a0a Cuban and Cuban-American Collaborative Art Exhibition at Penn State (2015).\u00a0Sotomayor\u2019s book\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vernonpress.com\/author\/62272\"><em>Teaching In\/Between: Curating Educational spaces Through Autohistoria-teor\u00eda and conocimiento<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>(Vernon Press, 2021) discusses a feminist, social justice approach implementing Gloria Anzald\u00faa\u2019s theories for teaching and curriculum design through a Latinx feminist lens.\u00a0Sotomayor has numerous publications about her research work in Cuba, feminist curatorial projects, curriculum approaches, and visual arts practice.
