Marilisa Jim\u00e9nez Garc\u00eda<\/strong> is Assistant Professor of English and Latin American Studies at Lehigh University. She is an interdisciplinary scholar specializing in Latinx literature and culture. She is particularly interested in the intersections of race, gender, nationalism, and youth culture in Puerto Rican literature of the diaspora. Jim\u00e9nez Garc\u00eda also specializes in literature for youth and how marginalized communities have used children’s and young adult texts as a platform for artistic expression, collective memory, and community advocacy. Her research appears in publications such as\u00a0Latino Studies<\/em>,\u00a0The Lion and the Unicorn,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0CENTRO Journal.\u00a0<\/em>Her book project,\u00a0Side-by-Side: The Puerto Rican Roots of American Youth Literature and Culture,<\/em>\u00a0is under contract with University Press of Mississippi. She is graduated with her PhD from the University of Florida and completed postdoctoral work at the Center for Puerto Rican Studies, Hunter College, City University of New York.<\/p>\n

He has been published in various publications and anthologies including Resisting Arrest<\/em> – Jacar Press 2016, and Hard Lines<\/em> – University of South Carolina 2016. He has studied at Fordham University, The University of Kentucky and Pace University. Currently, he serves at the Chief Diversity Officer for Western Carolina University and was recently appointed to the Advisory Council on Latino\/a-Hispanic Affairs for the Governor of North Carolina.<\/p>\n
